Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of activities will Camp Kramers be offering to my camper?

We pride ourselves in programming a variety of fun and educational activities for our campers. Your camper will be participating in many games, sports, teambuilding challenges, craft-making, swimming, boating, fishing, as well as our week to week “theme activities” which may include everything from horseback riding and archery to cooking and carpentry. Each week also has its share of special guests from Humane Society animal handlers to karate teams. Every week there’s plenty of new activities, so every week is an adventure!

What does a typical day look like at Camp Kramers Day Camp?

7:00: Early care campers arrive and play games inside
8:30: Campers arrive, counselors kick off the day with songs, skits and a devotion
9:00: All-camp Warm-ups and exercises outside.  Campers opting for a sports elective will attend a clinic with their coaches.  Campers opting out of the elective will participate in games and activities planned by their counselors.
10:00: Snack time (snacks provided by camp) 10:00:  Campers divide up into their age groups (7-9 and 10-12) to participate in morning theme activities, teambuilding challenges, sports, games, activities, crafts, special guests, etc.
12:00: Lunch, special skits, morning review
1:00: All-Camp Mania! (a different and very BIG game every day)
2:00: Swim time (waterslides, trapezes, diving boards, beach, etc.)
4:00: Snack and clean up
4:30: Camper pick up (extended care campers stay until 5:30 p.m.)

What does my camper need to bring to Camp Kramers Day Camp?

Each camper needs to bring a bagged or boxed lunch with their name clearly displayed on it. Lunches will be refrigerated until lunch time (please, no meals needing to be heated). Camp Kramer will provide two snacks daily along with plenty of water.  Campers should also bring a clearly marked bag containing a swimsuit, sunscreen, refillable water bottle, and a change of clothes. Because of the nature of some of the outdoor activities we participate in, we recommend that campers wear tennis shoes in place of sandals. Campers should NOT bring money, video game systems, CD players, or any valuables to camp.

What will be expected of my camper at Camp Kramers Day Camp?

Most of all, a simple willingness to have fun and try new activities. We also have seven expectations which are made clear to each camper at the beginning of the week.

We expect that campers will...
1. Listen to their counselors
2. That they will not swear or name-call
3. That they will not hit, push, or fight with others
4. That they wear shoes at all times (except during swimming or water activities)
5. That they will not throw rocks, sticks, or sand
6. That they will leave CD players, video games, and other electronic devices at home
7. That they will remain with their group at all times

Campers who consistently fail to meet these expectations will receive a verbal warning, followed by a written warning if the behavior persists, and followed by a parent conference if behavior is not changed. Continued failure to meet expectations after a parent conference may be terms for dismissal from the camp program. Parents are always informed when a camper has received a verbal warning. Our staff is well trained in conflict resolution, and will work individually with each camper to make sure that problems do not reach levels requiring dismissal.

Is there financial aid available for Camp Kramers Day Camp?

We believe that our program is so beneficial for children, that we do not want to see any camper turned away on financial grounds. However, financial aid funds are limited. If you would like to apply for financial aid, please contact our office soon. You will be asked to fill out a short form and submit a copy of your 2006 tax information. Each case will be reviewed by a financial board to assess the need, and you will be contacted.

Do you offer daily rates?

Our program is a full day camp, but we recognize that some parents may have schedules which prevent their children from attending a full day of camp. For this reason we offer rates of $20.00 per day. There are currently no “half day” rates available.
